Tips for Job Search Using Google

Frank’s Quick Tips to Search in Google

The numbers of search results were actual results run in February 8, 2012 morning.

  • Step one try these search term: Legal Secretary, there are “18,200,000 results” . That’s too broad to be useful.
  • Step two try these search term: Legal Secretary Los Angeles, there are “3,240,000 results”. You see it narrows down a bit, but still too broad.
  • Step three, put quotes in the search term: “Legal Secretary” Los Angeles, but put “Advance Search” criteria on it (click the Tool-Gear icon,
generally in upper right hand corner). Within the advance tool, narrow down the “Date, usage, rights, region, and more” criteria.
For the Date, pick “past week” from the drop down. Lets see how many we have? (Answer “15,600 results”).
  • Step four, for the Date, pick “past 24 hours”, we have “230 results”. There you go. Got it?

Good luck in your job search using Google!
